What are Cash Equivalents?
In Recap > Assets x Class report, US funds are shown as per their asset class allocation.
E.g. Vanguard Total Stock Market ETF (VTI) fund has a 0.35% allocation in Cash Equivalent instruments. https://www.morningstar.com/etfs/arcx/vti/portfolio
You can also see the same fund appearing under Stocks in Kubera with around 99% allocation.
This means if you have invested $100 in this fund, 99.x% is invested in stocks and 0.35% is invested in Cash eqv instruments. This is a fund allocation and cannot be added to your cash on hand. That's why they are shown separately.
The numbers may not exactly match with Morningstar. This is based on the data we get from our providers. But you get the idea.
