How to set an Asset Class for an asset?

Go to the Asset details (click on the 4-line icon on the right side of the row) > 'Reporting' tab > Asset Class

Why is the asset class fixed for some assets?

You can only change the asset class when the system can’t automatically identify the type of asset. Examples include:

  • Assets you enter manually
  • Connected accounts or brokerage holdings without a mapped ticker symbol

For assets that are mapped to a stock ticker, crypto ticker, or added as Homes and Cars, the system already knows the asset class. In these cases, the asset class is fixed and can’t be changed.

For US funds, the asset allocation is shown based on the ticker’s metadata in our database and can’t be modified.

For non-US funds, the asset class defaults to 'Fund', but you can change it to something more meaningful.
