AI Import updating the wrong asset

AI Import always looks for matching names or ticker symbols in your portfolio and try to update it with the details in the document you are trying to import.

When you AI Import, after the scanning, it shows you a preview of what it is going to do in your portfolio. Notice the grey text below the asset name. The grey text shows where it's going to be added or updated.

If you think it has picked the wrong asset to update, click on the asset name and pick the correct asset in you portfolio to update.

If you think the assets in the document have to be added as new assets, you have to click on the asset name and select a location (sheet name or section name) so that they get added there as a new asset.

The other workaround is to create a new portfolio and then import the new document. They will be added as new assets in this portfolio. Then you can move these assets into the right portfolio that you want them to be.

Tip: If it's just one or two assets that you are tying to add, it's best to click on Add Asset and select the Enter Value Manually option and copy paste the asset name and value. So much easier and faster than going through the AI Import method. AI Import is particularly helpful when you add a bunch of things in bulk. Like a list of stock holdings form your stock portfolio. It's too much work for adding just one asset.
