[Web Sync] Sync bank and brokerage accounts using Kubera Web Sync Chrome Extension

If Kubera can't connect to one of your banks or brokerages, you'd normally track that account as a manual entry and update it by hand. The easiest way to keep those numbers current is to let your AI Assistant do it. It visits your institution's website, reads your balances and holdings, and updates Kubera for you. If you'd rather not use an AI Assistant, the Kubera Web Sync Chrome extension is a simpler alternative. You run it on your institution's webpage, and it scans the details and syncs the numbers to Kubera. The extension works well for a few bank balances or a single brokerage account. If you have multiple brokerage accounts, overlapping holdings, or separate logins at the same institution, we recommend using your AI Assistant instead. It's better at matching each account to the right entry in Kubera, and you can guide it through chat if anything needs adjusting.

How it works

1. Install the Kubera Web Sync Chrome extension.
2. Open a new Chrome tab and log in to your bank or brokerage as usual.
3. Go to the page that shows your account balances or holdings.
4. While you're on that page, open the Web Sync extension. It will start scanning the data.
5. Review the scanned data. If anything needs adjusting, click Change.
6. When everything looks right, click Sync to update your Kubera portfolio.

It's Safe

• Runs locally in your browser. Everything happens in your own Chrome window.
• Never accesses your login credentials. You log in to your bank yourself, as you normally would.
• Read-only on your bank's side. It never makes changes to your bank or brokerage account.
• Only runs when you start it. Nothing happens in the background.
• Nothing changes without your OK. Data is synced to Kubera only after you confirm.
• It only touches manual entries. It adds and updates manually tracked assets, never accounts Kubera already syncs automatically.

If Chrome shows the 'Proceed with Caution' alert, don't panic. Just Click 'Continue to Install'

This warning isn't actually about Kubera specifically. It's something Google Chrome shows to users who have Enhanced Protection enabled in Chrome Security settings (chrome://settings/security).

For newer Chrome extensions, like Kubera Web Sync, Google displays a "Proceed with caution" message until the developer has built up enough history and reputation in the Chrome Web Store.

According to Google's documentation, it can take several months for a new developer or extension to be considered "trusted" by their systems.

In other words, Google isn't saying the extension is unsafe. They're simply saying that it hasn't yet accumulated enough trust signals for Enhanced Protection users to receive the normal install experience.
